As IJM continues this trajectory of growth and scaling of its impact, IJM’s Regional Director of Strategy & Learning, North America is seeking a collaborative leader to provide project management and project leadership to North America’s most complex region and/or cross-functional strategic initiatives. Working closely with the enterprise PMO and the North America PMO, this role is responsible for all phases of project management, ensuring adherence to IJM’s global project management standards.


The North America Project Manager will initiate projects, including liaising with stakeholders at the leadership and, sometimes, the executive level. They will develop and implement effective plans to manage a project’s scope, timeline, and budget. In executing the project and in collaboration with the NA PMO, they will ensure effective communication rhythms to keep project stakeholders apprised of project status and changes. They will provide monitoring and quality assurance to ensure the project achieves its desired results, and they will facilitate project closing, including debriefing and knowledge management.


This position is based at IJM Headquarters in the Washington, DC area and reports to the Regional Director of Strategy & Learning, North America.


  • Initiate assigned projects, developing project charters and stakeholder engagement plans that ensure all stakeholders are aligned on roles and intended outcomes from the beginning of the project;
  • Develop project plans in line with IJM’s global project management standards, including define the project scope and work breakdown, developing a project schedule, building a detailed project budget, assembling a project team, developing a communications plan (collaborating with the internal communications function when necessary), and identifying project risks;
  • Manage the execution of regional and team-level projects, managing scope, timeline, and budget and ensuring the project achieves its intended objectives. Execution of the project includes executing the project plan, adapting as needed and ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and informed;
  • Monitor the quality of regional and team projects, including maintaining an updated risk register, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring project team members are able to execute their responsibilities; and
  • Lead project closing, including facilitating debriefs, capturing lessons learned, and ensuring project documentation and knowledge is effectively captured.


  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management, ideally with experience in the nonprofit sector working across cross-divisional, multi-functional teams;
  • Certified PMP, PfMP, Agile ScrumMaster, or eligible to take the exam;
  • Required Bachelor’s degree, preferably in related field;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Track record of building collaborative relationships, ability to build trust and leading through influence.
