    International Justice Mission (IJM) is seeking a determined professional to drive communications strategy and manage the production of communications deliverables in support of IJM’s volunteer engagement and advocacy campaigns. This leader will mobilize an unprecedented number of American citizens to fuel IJM’s work through giving, prayer, and advocacy.


    This position is based at IJM Headquarters in the Washington, DC area and reports to the National Director of Advocacy and Mobilization.




    Recruit and Equip Volunteers

    • Manage production of resources to support volunteer leader recruitment and engagement, leveraging video, digital platforms, and hard copy resources;
    • Develop engaging content for volunteer audiences, including overseeing production of quarterly newsletter, facilitating breaking news updates, and maintaining a dynamic web presence; and
    • Provide technical assistance and advisory guidance to volunteer communications leaders.

    Drive Mass Communications Strategy to Support Advocacy Goals

    • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the Advocacy and Mobilization team on driving mass engagement in advocacy campaigns, including leveraging digital platforms to help achieve policy and recruitment goals;
    • Serve as advocacy expert to Global Marketing and Communications team to facilitate development of advocacy campaign deliverables; and
    • Drive social media strategy and implementation across all official Advocacy and Mobilization platforms.

    Project Management

    • Serve as primary liaison to Creative Services team, managing all Advocacy and Mobilization projects; and serve as primary liaison to outside creative agencies when necessary;
    • Work with Director of Digital, Senior Manager of Online Communities, and other key internal stakeholders to ensure coordination with wider digital strategy and identify opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration;
    • Lead event marketing strategy, attendee experience, and materials creation for key events in D.C. and in target cities;
    • Analyze effectiveness of team mass communications and marketing (including online action alerts and email) and recommend solutions to improve engagement; and
    • Manage Advocacy and Mobilization communications budget.



    Required Skills and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree;
    • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience;
    • Prior work experience and exposure to the development of online campaigns, web design, the creation of digital media and online content;
    • Proven ability to develop strategy, build partnerships internally and externally, manage stakeholders, execute an action plan, achieve results, and evaluate progress;
    • Experience coordinating online strategy for campaigns with a strong grassroots mobilization component, including demonstrated success in achieving goals;
    • Proven ability to innovate and drive for keeping IJM on the cutting edge of grassroots digital engagement in advocacy efforts;
    • Experience managing multiple social media platforms, and working with web developers and designers to deliver an exceptional digital experience for constituents;
    • Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects with the ability to prioritize, complete tasks with minimal oversight and meet deadlines;
    • Exceptional written communications skills, including writing related to political advocacy and experience with blogging;
    • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office;
    • Experience working on campaigns focused on federal policy a plus; and
    • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.

    The Mission
    International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local officials to ensure immediate victim rescue and aftercare, to prosecute perpetrators and to promote functioning public justice systems.
