  • The Need

    Orientation Week in Washington, D.C. beginning on January 14th.

    The People and Operations Development Fellow would support the Global People Support division within IJM. The GPS Division provides the people, systems, processes, and support necessary to end slavery and violence in our lifetime. As the People and Organizational Development Fellow you will assist in planning and implementing professional development and organizational development programming for IJM staff to accomplish that goal. Although tasks may vary depending on the internship and the work in progress at the time, some tasks may include:

    • Coordinating various trainings, such as training for managers and leaders;
    • Assisting in the organization and execution of various staff development events including the Global Leadership Development Academy, Team Week and Orientation Week;
    • Assisting the division’s use of project management software;
    • Providing coordination for special projects assigned by GPS staff members; and
    • Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative support.
    *Individuals must propose their own fellowship funding source. IJM is a 501©(3) organization qualified to receive institutional grants and other similar funding.


    Required Skills and Experience

    • Project Management qualification (PMP®, Prince2® or similar certification) or graduate level qualification;
    • Three+ years of human resources or other relevant professional experience, ideally in culturally diverse settings and with complex projects;
    • Excellent interpersonal skills; and
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    *What is a statement of faith?
    A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM. The statement can either be incorporated into the cover letter or submitted as a separate document and should include, at a minimum, a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer, study, etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship.
