  • The Need

    International Justice Mission (IJM) is seeking a Development Coordinator to join the growing justice movement, leveraging his or her organizational expertise to support the team raising the funds required to bring justice for the vulnerable and oppressed around the world.


    This position is part of a team responsible for raising $7.8 million in revenue per year through individual donors giving between $1,000 and $10,000 annually, and achieving double digit revenue growth each year. In this role, you will assist the team in donor retention activities and portfolio management. The right person for this role will be disciplined, creative, detail-oriented, professional, and relational, and will excel at producing consistently excellent results.


    This position is based at IJM Headquarters in the Washington, DC area and reports to the Senior Manager, Mid-Level Giving Program.



    Help invite individuals into loyal and joyful giving

    • Coordinate the execution of daily and weekly thank you mailings and calls to donors; 
    • Support donor retention tactics through writing and reviewing content for update emails, welcome series communications, and lapsed donor mailings;
    • Bring surprise and delight by personally contacting donors to thank them for their gift to IJM; 
    • Engage with donors and provide ways for them to more deeply connect to IJM’s work;
    • Coordinate the execution of targeted mid-level donor strategies; and
    • Support various tactics to encourage donors to give and increase their giving.

    Provide excellent administrative support

    • Arrange travel logistics; 
    • Ensure all donor communications are recorded properly and quickly in donor database; 
    • Schedule and coordinate monthly meetings and an annual team day; and
    • Create and maintain a variety of systems for organizing, filing and monitoring important information.
    • Maintain monthly and annual archives of touch points and corresponding results; 
    • Support mid-level portfolio data health through regular data entry and clean-up; and
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.



    Required Skills and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree; a degree in Marketing or Communications preferred;
    • At least one year of experience providing top-level support or coordination in a fast-paced, professional environment;
    • Superior ability to manage a large number of tasks simultaneously and proven ability to consistently meet deadlines with excellence;
    • Exceptional ability in written and oral communication;
    • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn other systems and programs;
    • Demonstrated ability to interact well across all age groups; and
    • Demonstrated ability to earn and maintain trust with regard to confidential and sensitive information; and
    • Demonstrated ability to manage and utilize databases; prior experience using Salesforce preferred.
