The Need

As the Analyst of Treasury & Financial Policy, you will have a pivotal role in ensuring IJM stays financially compliant as it engages in new initiatives- whether those are transitioning to a Global Bank or raising money in an innovative way. This role will contribute to the continued success of the organization by ensuring that as the organization grows and changes, it continues to adhere to all applicable regulations, including relevant Accounting, Watchdog, and IRS regulations, and that its policies continue to be effective and efficient. This role will contribute to the ability of the Organization to track these initiatives, stay compliant, and provide relevant analysis helpful to the end user. The Analyst, Treasury & Financial Policy is based at our Washington, DC headquarters office and reports to the Senior Manager of Global Treasury.

Responsibilities

Support of New Revenue Initiatives

  • Work closely with Global Advancement (GA) division to identify priorities on new revenue generating initiatives; research implications and develop and communicate project accounting needs to Accounting Department to develop creative solutions while ensuring compliance.
  • Ensure that Accounting, IRS, and Watchdog regulations are followed in the implementation of new initiatives, in the reporting, recording, and controls; Develop and document new IJM processes and procedures, recommending policy changes as necessary.

Financial Policies & Regulatory Compliance

  • Understand and plan for regulatory changes in GAAP, IRS, and Watchdog standards, to ensure that IJM properly implements new guidance (such as COSO 2013 framework, OMB Super-Circular, New ASC 605 Revenue Recognition Standard). Create necessary project plans for Accounting Department to properly transition.
  • Collaborate with Finance team for creation and updates of Finance policies; assist Senior Manager, Global Treasury in the creation of new financial policies and procedures, make sure that they are properly communicated to the Organization.
  • Project manage project to align financial policies and procedures organization wide.
  • Administer the Finance Policies and Procedures SharePoint Site and Treasury SharePoint Site.
  • Coordinate information from all IJM employees for application to all applicable Watchdog agencies on an annual basis.
  • Develop tools for predicting future Watchdog ratings depending on business decisions and develop and implement new policies or procedures to improve ratings.

Global Treasury Analysis & Administration

  • Support Headquarters and Field Offices Banking and Cash Management needs, including the creation of bank resolutions and confirmations.
  • Coordinate transition from multiple international banks to a Global Bank, ensuring applicable documentation is complete and accurate
  • Assist Senior Manager of Global Treasury in Treasury analysis through monitoring of daily cash activities, the preparation of weekly cash flow analysis and monthly cash forecasts, and analysis of projected cash flow forecasts vs. actual cash flows on a regular basis to improve forecast accuracy and reduce excess cash balances.
  • Prepare monthly Treasury reporting package, including analysis and commentary, by established deadline.
  • Help create processes, procedures, and controls to ensure that bank accounts have proper signatories and controls.
  • Ensure that accounting/tracking around new planned giving gifts and investments is complete and accurate, and in accordance with GAAP.
  • Develop and recommend banking process improvements and necessary changes to policies.
  • Coordinate tracking mechanisms to ensure complete and accurate FBAR filings on an annual basis.
  • Analyze bank analysis statements and look for ways to reduce fees.
  • Administer IJM’s Corporate Credit Card Program, which includes adding and removing staff members to the corporate account, responding to claims of fraudulent card activity, and ensuring that credit card policies are complied with across the Organization.
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis on investment and Foreign currency forward opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or Master’s Degree in Accounting preferred;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Non-Profit Tax, Audit, or Treasury and/or Financial Analysis for an international business or organization with multiple projects;
  • Analytical business thinker with a proven ability to research business topics and produce written positions;
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP, IRS regulations regarding Form 990 and 501(c)(3) organizations preferred;
  • Proven ability to understand processes and procedures, and document them accordingly;
  • Proven ability to problem solve, bridge build, and work on cross-functional teams to come up with beneficial solutions for all involved parties.
  • Superior administrative capacity to manage a large number of projects and tasks simultaneously and to complete them with minimal oversight.
