    IJM is seeking an HRIS Senior Manager to ensure the highest possible business value to our organization from the Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) system through appropriate information technology decisions while ensuring appropriate processes, procedures and change management plans are in place to support these investments to drive user acceptance. This role needs to understand the business needs by collaborating with Human Resources leaders and business leaders, to create a systems environment that enables the HRIS team to execute both day to day tasks and achieve HRIS strategic goals. This role is responsible for driving the analysis, design, build and delivery phases of HRIS system-related solutions, as well as ongoing management of Workday.


    The position is based in Washington, DC and will report to the Reporting to the Product Owner, Workday.



    Manage the design and maintenance of the Workday HCM ecosystem and data architecture (ongoing)

    •  Direct the design, implementation, delivery and support of enterprise wide HR system (Workday), and related policies, procedures and change management plans to ensure successful user adoption in the global HR community and throughout the company.  Provide primary support for Workday HCM, Benefits, Compensation, Time Tracking, Absence Management, Talent, and any new functionality that may be implemented going forward.
    • Serve as the primary liaisons between Global Technology Solutions (GTS) and Global People Support (GPS) to enhance overall HR efficiency and focus on continuous improvement. 
    • Develop consistent and improved reporting of HR data to enable senior management and global HR community to make critical business decisions based on accurate data.
    • Manage Workday system, evaluating new releases, weekly patches and metrics of the system to determine usability of system and the impact to current business processes and functional enhancements.
    • Successfully project manage HR annual events (benefits open enrollment, performance reviews, etc.) such that they meet all functional and technical requirements and are delivered on time.
    • Ensure the successful integration of new systems with existing Enterprise Applications.
    • Manage HRIS team work in support of all key responsibilities, including the development of team goals and measures of success.
    • Ensure the HRIS team develops and maintains system documentation, accurate data dictionaries, statements of work for all data integrations with vendor systems or internal IJM systems and adequate documentation.
    • Develop staff members to be Workday experts (configuration, HR functions, security, reporting, integrations, and support) and cross train to ensure overall team is equipped with the expertise to sustain the Workday HR system.
    • Ensure confidentiality of Human Resources related information and data and compliance with all applicable policies and laws, state and federal guidelines, and reporting requirements to state and federal agencies.
    • Set and ensure adherence to policy for system security and system permissions.
    • Project manage all Workday deployments, whether new Workday applications, such as Recruiting, or new functionality, in partnership with the functional lead to ensure effective communication of project expectations to all team members and stakeholders. Develop and track detailed project plans, technical and business requirements, cost estimates, resource plans, change management plans, risk mitigation plans and issue resolution plans.

    Vendor Management & Relationship Management (ongoing)

    • Provide leadership for system projects such as upgrades, enhancements or integration with other IJM or vendor systems or and for process improvement efforts across HR, including analysis of requirements and system testing, planning, and implementation.
    • Integrate the HRIS project calendar with the operational calendar for Global Technology Solutions (GTS) and GPS/People Operations.
    • Partner with subject matter experts across HR and GTS to improve workflow efficiency and accuracy and ensure high levels of ownership for data and process integrity.
    • Lead the development of self-service training and/or support materials for HR, for managers and employees on using HR systems.
    • Maintain an active network of Workday and HCM professionals for reach back support.
    • Ensure HR system vendors execute on responsibilities and comply with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

    Facilitate the Global Rollout of IJM's Workday HCM platform (next 2-3 years)

    • Working under the direction of the Workday Product Owner, assist the HR team in conducting an extensive gap analysis and process re-design of IJM’s global HR business processes.
    • Ensure the effective use of HR functional and technical resources across the global organization to speak into process re-design, as well as Workday system design, testing and training.
    • Implement effective change management and communication strategies to ensure the successful Workday HCM system adoption for all IJM’s global employees (750+ users).
    • Develop training—both immediately upon roll-out and ongoing—to equip stakeholders for efficient use of the system.

    Advise on the Technology Roadmaps for the Global People Support Division (ongoing)

    • Working alongside the Workday Product Owner and business leaders in Global People Support, understand the trajectory of their Division’s strategy and proactively identify Workday system enhancements - as well as entirely new technology products to facilitate that strategy.
    • Work collaboratively with other members of the Global People Support management team and other functions in HR to problem solve around systematic issues and ensure a cohesive Shared Services strategy and effective support from the HRIS team to the rest of HR / People Operations.
    • Evaluate operational effectiveness and develop business cases to prioritize process and plans for improvements or enhancements to HR system (Workday).
    • Lead evaluations, demonstrations, and analysis before new modules and/or systems are selected and, working with other technical resources, ensure new products are appropriately scoped for successful implementation.


    • 10+ years of work experience, with a minimum of 5 years’ related work experience including prior experience managing a team responsible for a portfolio of HR systems
    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; Masters’ degree preferred; and or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
    • 3+years managing teams
    • Experience managing teams of technical professionals
    • Experience supporting complex, global technology systems 
    • Proven ability to conduct gap analysis and effectively re-design business processes 
    • High level of familiarity with Workday and/or other top-tier HR/FIN platforms required
    • Familiarity with functional HR and FIN business processes, such as payroll, benefits, time tracking, on-boarding, off-boarding, talent management, expenses, accounting, budgeting, projects, grants, etc. 
    • Ability to travel internationally required (20% travel anticipated for first 2-3 years
    • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to explain complex, technical information to a lay audience in a simple, concise manner

    Reporting to the Product Owner, Workday, the HRIS Senior Manager is responsible for the strategy, requirement definition, design and value realization of the global Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). Under the direction of the Product Owner, Workday, this position will manage the work of 2-3 HQ-based Workday HCM/PAY systems analysts, with a possibility of up to a group of 4 Workday business analysts imbedded in the region, in the future (2018-2019).
