The Program Manager, Institutional Partnerships is responsible for project management related to institutional revenue streams from the government, corporations, and major foundations. As part of the Global Partnerships department, this role will contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to increase revenue from these markets and assist IJM in achieving a 20% annual revenue growth target.

 

This position is based in Washington, D.C. and reports to the Vice President of Global Partnerships.

Responsibilities

Proposal Development

  • Assist the Global Partnerships team in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of relationships with government donors, corporations, and major foundations for designated regional programs;
  • Manage a project portfolio of institutional donors that are designated by region;
  • Facilitate the development of compelling institutional funding proposals for designated IJM field programs, expertly coordinating with all IJM departments regarding the internal approval process;  
  • Support uniform grant reporting across designated regional teams and work with the grants management team to ensure quality and timely reports for existing institutional grants;
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships across the organization;
  • Analyze trends in institutional giving to ensure that we are on target to meet financial goals and maximizing opportunities in designated regions; and
  • In collaboration with the Global Programs Division, contribute to the strategy for IJM’s thought leadership by identifying global platforms for IJM speakers as well as key networking opportunities.

Project Management

  • Manage Salesforce and Workday records for assigned grants and opportunities;
  • Assist in the implementation of the internal reporting process in collaboration with the Global Advancement Strategy and Project Management teams;
  • Collaborate with Institutional Partnerships team to consolidate, maintain and manage documentation related to proposal development, grant agreements and reports for current and potential grants; and
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal questions related to Institutional Partnerships for designated regions.

Funder Engagement

  • Coordinate with the Strategic Partnerships and Global Programs departments to manage opportunities for current and prospective institutional funders to visit IJM field offices in designated regions;
  • Manage the briefing process for meetings between the Global Programs team and the Vice President of Global Partnerships with potential and current institutional funders;
  • Assist in the development of speeches, talking points, and presentations for the Director of Global Partnerships and the Vice President of Global Partnerships as the interact with funder audiences and attend events; 
  • Coordinate schedules, itineraries, and logistics for meetings with institutional funders; and
  • Supervise department volunteers as needed. 

Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education;
  • Masters’ degree in International Development, Business, or Social Sciences preferred;
  • Professional with 5+ years of experience working with funding entities, developing grant applications, or evaluating grant applications;
  • Field-related international development experience with program development and M&E knowledge preferred;
  • Experience developing proposals for institutional funders;
  • Experience building new relationships while managing competing deadlines and attaining goals;
  • Skilled presenter and public speaker; 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience building meaningful relationships with high-net worth decision makers and senior level executives;
  • Highly developed capacity to accurately and objectively evaluate the effectiveness and outcomes of programs and then make appropriate adjustments; and
  • Demonstrated success securing major gifts from institutional donors.
