The Need

IJM’s People Operations division is responsible for providing the people, systems, processes, and support critical to achieving the organization’s globally mission. The division supports IJM’s global mission by hiring the best; giving life-changing experiences inspiring and growing excellence; and strengthen staff for the long haul.


The Program Manager, People Operations is responsible for driving key aspects of the Division’s horizontal delivery, including projects/initiatives originated by the division to be rolled out as a service or process to the full global organization. This will involve ensuring all People Operations delivery is well-timed, executed flawlessly, and designed to delight employees around the world.


The position is based at IJM Headquarters in the Washington, DC area and reports to the Director of Programs and Strategy, People Operations.

Responsibilities

Project Management for Global Impact

  • Provide project management for global programs assigned by the Chief People Officer or the Director of Programs and Strategy.

Leadership of Special Projects

  • Assist in the maintenance of an inventory of critical path projects in which the Chief People Officer is engaged or interested in; and
  • Provide project management for special projects assigned by the Chief People Officer or the Director of Programs and Strategy.

Budget Management, Reporting, and Support of Division-Wide Initiatives

  • Provide management of initiatives with division-wide impact including project plan and timeline development, stakeholder engagement, and project budget management;
  • Support the Director of Programs and Strategy in managing the division budget and equip the Chief People Officer with necessary information to make appropriate budget decisions;
  • Provide the Director of Programs and Strategy with insights on the division’s performance on budgets, timelines, and results;
  • Identify roadblocks, bottlenecks, and risks in project planning process and implement solutions that enable the division to run in a predictable and efficient manner;
  • Manage the division’s use of project management software and define and implement software improvements;
  • Work with the Director of Programs and Strategy to gather and report on key performance indicators and OKRs at divisional levels; and
  • Provide training on the project planning process and support the Director of Programs and Strategy in providing ongoing project management training to the division.

Communication

  • Coordinate internal communications as it relates to the project planning process, including building and managing the People Operations SharePoint site, to ensure all teams within People Operations are aligned and informed about the status and priority of projects in the portfolio;
  • Assist in the maintenance of an inventory of upcoming communication “events”—including articles, columns, speeches, panel discussions, etc.;
  • Assist in research and fact-checking in support of external events, engagements and communications of the Chief People Officer; and
  • Conduct fact checking-in support of all communications.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience;
  • Proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment; 
  • Experience managing multiple projects with strong prioritization skills; and
  • Proficiency with SharePoint strongly preferred.
