The Need

Senior System Engineer will position technical team members in the application of standard system engineering principles, methods, and techniques to resolve difficult problems, from conception to final design with team input.  Plans and leads project assignments in the evaluation, selection and adaptation of various engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria with minimal guidance.


Systems Architecture

  • Maintain, design and continually improve systems architecture based on standard industry practices for both U.S. based offices and Field Offices;
  • Maintain good documentation on infrastructure changes globally;
  • Implement standards based changes and upgrades to systems globally;
  • Direct local field engineers in the physical installation and maintenance of existing and new server systems; and
  • Develop and implement system architecture for IJM’s use of cloud based platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.)

Systems Management and Operations

  • Lead administration, enhancement and support for our on-premises and cloud server and storage infrastructure as well as enterprise level applications, including database, collaboration, email, file servers and remote access systems.
  • Be an active participant in the global initiative to move to the corporate cloud strategy.
  • Maintain a global view of technology implementations, ensuring that the IJM systems are culturally sensitive and user-friendly for our global constituents;
  • Assist all GTS team members as member of escalation team;
  • Allocate tasks and system integration efforts to other members of the team; and
  • Work with vendors and field operations to develop and obtain new versions or replacement technology.

Documentation and Training

  • Work with the Information Systems (GTS) team and Field Operations to create and deliver end user training on relevant applications;
  • Develop knowledgebase articles and tutorials for relevant applications;
  • Continuously develop knowledge of current technology to bring innovative solutions that increase operational efficiency; and
  • Maintain good documentation of systems design, operations, and disaster recovery procedures.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science; or any equivalent combination of education, experience.
  • 5 + years’ experience in system administration; demonstrated experience in an enterprise Microsoft environment, providing IT support in a fast paced, professional environment
  • Current MCSE Certification required
  • Operational proficiencies in, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Server 2008/2012, Exchange 2010, SharePoint 2010, SQL 2008, Windows 7 & 10, Office365.
  • Operational proficiencies in virtualized environments including VMware vSphere 5.x.

Travel Requirements

  • This position may require some travel to IJM’s partner offices, field offices and other parts of the world each year.
